Boudoir Photography-- Is it for me?
Boudoir Photography
Many of us have heard of boudoir photography but either don’t really know what it is or have a skewed misconception of what it exactly entails. The word “boudoir” means a beautifully decorated room used in the past by a woman for sleeping, dressing, relaxing, and entertaining.
So, what is boudoir photography? It is a photoshoot that often takes place in a bedroom-like area where women have the opportunity to celebrate their uniqueness, their bodies, and embrace confidence in who they are. It really is a chance for women to do something for themselves, whatever the reason may be.
I know what most of you are thinking—there is no way I would look good bearing that much skin. Let me ease your worries; you don’t have to! You can still do boudoir, be sexy and look great in a silky robe or oversized t-shirt. It’s all about working with your comfort level and making that sexy.
I always respect each individual’s privacy. As a photographer, it is my job to know how to prepare you properly for a boudoir shoot and then pose you strategically with the proper angles and lighting to create images you didn’t see coming!
Many women who have done boudoir say it was one of the most rewarding, fun and satisfying experiences they have had and are so pleased they did so.
This type of photo session gives women a chance to go out and buy those lovely, gorgeous pieces of lingerie. It also gives her the chance to get dolled up, put on extra, dramatic makeup, add some favorite pieces jewelry and high heels, and just feel beautiful!
Boudoir really is all about defining your own “why” for doing such a photo shoot. Some women do so for empowerment over things they have overcome. Others do it to celebrate personal victories and struggles that no longer hold them back from enjoying who they are, and still others do boudoir to surprise their husband’s with a gift they never saw coming! Whatever your reason and whatever you why, know that doing a boudoir shoot is more than just showing some skin. It really is a chance for a woman to do something for herself, and to do so with sass, class, and sex appeal.
"Girl, you got this!"
